These pressure gauges employ an elastic diaphragm as a sensing element and generally used for processes having low operating pressures.

Diaphragm gauges are also used for measuring pressures of viscous, sedimentous or corrosive fluids and are preferred to seal units because of their capacity to withstand overpressures.
